About Steve Shilling
Steve works in the IT industry as a consultant and contractor to many companies. Specialising in the Unix arena Steve has gained experience in the use of many flavours dating back to 1987, such as Sun O/S, Solaris, AIX, HP-UX, Linux and more. Although this is his primary vocation Steve still practices Design Draughting using manual and CAD methods. Having started life as a Mechanical Engineer Steve migrated to the Unix environment through Sun O/S via the CAD systems that his original employer ITL used at the time. Here Steve supported the environment as right hand man to the CAD Manager. Whilst doing this he studied for his computing qualifications which added to his already high graded Mechanical qualifications. Steve worked with the Sun Microsystems supporting the operating system problems in the absence of the CAD Manager and sorting out other problems within the system as well as guiding and training users of the CAD system.
